Symantec developing a web based parental control utility

Security software maker Symantec has revealed that they are working on a web based parental control service that would enable parents to keep a tight watch on what their kids do online.

They would be able to control everything that is accessible from the computer remotely.

A demo was given to some media personals which showed that the service can control the people who the kids can interact with though messenger applications. Parents would also be able to monitor and control what their kids do on social networks.

Symantec said that it is more of a “family online safety” program rather than the usual parent control application.

Of course the service would require a client installed on the home computer. It would certainly not monitor what the kids would do on other machines.
