Asus aims to deliver all their motherboards with Linux onboard
Hardware manufacturer Asus has announced that they eventually plan to ship all their motherboard models with Splashtop.
Splashtop comes loaded with Linux OS in addition to some applications like Firefox based browser and Skype VoIP Client.
This would make the motherboard bootable within seconds and can be used as an alternative to boot into the regular operating system on the computer.
Asus has already been delivering their higher end models with this Linux edition and they plan to offer them on all their models eventually.
Joe Hsieh, general manager of Asus’ motherboard business unit said in a statement: “In response to great user feedback, our plan is to proliferate Express Gate across our entire motherboard-product portfolio, starting with over one million motherboards per month. Consumers want to turn their PCs on and off like any other appliance, and Express Gate has made that possible.”
