Microsoft still planning to stop offering XP this coming July
Microsoft has clarified that they are going to stop offering Windows XP operating system on sale after June this year.
The company stated: “Our plan for Windows XP availability is unchanged. We’re confident that’s the right thing to do based on the feedback we’ve heard from our customers and partners.”
This comes after the company CEO Steve Ballmer was quoted as saying that they might extend the life of Windows XP if they see enough demand from the customers.
He had said: “If customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter, but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments.”
Incidentally, a lot of people online have signed petitions asking Microsoft to keep offering XP forever. Looks like Mr. Ballmer missed checking out those messages.
