Microsoft could extend Windows XP life
Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has said that the company might consider extending the availability of Windows XP operating system if they see enough demand from customers.
He said in a statement: “XP will hit an end-of-life. We have announced one. If customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments.”
They are currently scheduled to stop selling Windows XP operating system in the market in June this year.
They are however still going to provide it to system makers for low cost laptops which are not capable of running their Windows Vista operating system.
Ballmer added: “In the business environment, we still have customers who are buying PCs with XP” because information technology departments often have to work with old machines.”
