PayPal would require users to have modern browsers
eBay owned online payment service PayPal has announced that they would soon start blocking access to their services using old generation web browsers.
The company said that this step has become essential to prevent phishing based attacks.
PayPal was quoted as saying: “In our view, letting users view the PayPal site on one of these browsers is equal to a car manufacturer allowing drivers to buy one of their vehicles without seatbelts.”
This move can also affect the users of Apple Safari web browser which lacks any form of anti-phishing filter.
PayPal would begin by warning users of older browsers visiting their website. Over a period of time, they would be totally blocked from accessing the service.
