Red Hat drop plans to develop Consumer Linux Desktop Edition
Linux Company Red Hat has now said that they are abandoning plans to develop a Consumer Linux Desktop edition.
The company said in a blog post: “We have no plans to create a traditional desktop product for the consumer market in the foreseeable future.”
Red Hat added: “The desktop market suffers from having one dominant vendor, and some people still perceive that today’s Linux desktops simply don’t provide a practical alternative. Of course, a growing number of tech-savvy users and companies have discovered that today’s Linux desktop is indeed a practical alternative.”
They also delayed the launch of another similar product named Red Hat Global Desktop.
