MySQL 5.1 launch delayed
Sun Microsystems has said that they are delaying the launch of MySQL 5.1.
The company however did release a release candidate version of the application yesterday.
Sun said that they need some time to fix the remaining bugs in this release to make it a production ready application.
A company representative said: “When we released MySQL 5.0, it didn’t really meet our quality standards. With 5.1 we are being much more conservative, much harder on ourselves.”
Amazon and Google are two of the biggest users of MySQL database application but they are using heavily modified versions to suit their requirements.
MySQL is generally not preferred for bigger projects and Sun wants to remove that belief.
