Mozilla not happy with Safari auto-install move by Apple
Mozilla CEO John Lilly has criticized Apple for delivering Apple Safari web browser through the Apple Software Update utility.
Safari was delivered to the users of Apple iTunes/QuickTime even though they had not installed the web browser in the first place.
Lilly wrote in a blog post on this Apple tactic: “What Apple is doing now with their Apple Software Update on Windows is wrong. It undermines the trust relationship great companies have with their customers, and that’s bad — not just for Apple, but for the security of the whole Web.”
He said that Apple Safari is not default software that comes preinstalled on the Windows OS (unlike the Mac OS X)… And this itself is a good reason for Apple not to deliver Safari through its Software Update utility on the Windows OS.
Apple is yet to respond to the criticisms related to delivery of Safari through their software update utility on Windows OS.

They’re not the only ones. I removed it and deleted the Scheduled Task to check for updates, Apple is just just too invasive lately.
