The Canadian version comes customized with preferences suiting the users in Canada. The homepage is pointing towards the Netscape.ca web portal. The other search and research settings also points to the sources optimized for Canadian audiences.
Netscape 8 Browser comes powered by two different rendering engines. It uses Firefox engine for the sites it deems unsafe for opening in the default Internet Explorer engine. This lets the user get the best of both worlds, as a lot of websites are designed to work only in Internet Explorer.
Firefox’s locked mode brings additional security to the browsing mode when unknown sites are being visited. This disables the support for ActiveX components, which can lead to malware installing on the system. The browser also comes with additional security features like Phishing and virus protection that warns users or disables the browser’s potentially vulnerable features on known dangerous websites.
This version is only available in the English language however. The company would soon be launching a French language version in the coming months.
