Microsoft to add Sirit technology to Windows Mobile platform

Software giant Microsoft has said that they are now going to work with RFID vendor Sirit to add its near field communication (NFC) technology to their Windows Mobile platform.

The two companies however did not reveal the details of their collaboration.

Market analysts believe that up to one-third of all mobile phones will be NFC-equipped within the next five years.

This would enable the mobile owners to use their devices as electronic wallets, electronic tickets, and access control devices.

Sirit should gain from this deal as it would give them access to a large number of mobile devices made by variety of manufacturers around the world.
