Microsoft working on Blu-Ray support on Windows OS
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has been quoted as saying that the company is working on bringing support for Blu-Ray format on the Windows OS.
He said: “We’ve already been working on, for example, in Windows, device driver support for Blu-ray drives and the like.”
This is a big development coming after Toshiba announced their exit from the rival HD DVD format.
Sony has practically won the next generation storage format war with the Blu-Ray technology.
Microsoft was a support for the HD DVD format with their Xbox 360 gaming console. However, they have now stopped manufacturing the HD DVD drive for this platform.
