Mozilla Foundation released the latest stable version of its flagship standalone browser Firefox. Version 0.9 marks a feature complete version for the time being with developers deciding to concentrate on the bugs fixes, code optimization and stability improvement before the all important version 1 release in the near future. The browser has literally taken the alternate browser market by storm with its simplicity and compatibility to standards features. The fact that it is free and open source also adds to the shine that this browser comes with. The browser comes with the convenience of adding additional features by installing small snippets of software called extension and there are plenty of themes available on the Mozilla website to make the browser look as per your choice.
Some of the major changes in this release are… The browser comes with a new default theme called Winstripe which is based on the default Mac Firefox’s theme Pinstripe. Data migration from competing browsers has been improved so now importing personalized settings from browsers like Internet Explorer and Opera is easy. The themes and extensions are now managed in their own specific modules making it easier for the user to keep track of them. This also renders some of the older extensions and themes useless in the new version. But this seems to be the final version which will have this minor upgradation glitch. Now user can update the themes/extensions and even the main application itself from the user interface making it easier for upgrades and updates. All these minor changes make it more user friendly. One of the most notable changes in the new version is the amazingly small download size. One of the most criticized aspects of the standalone browser is now answered too with the latest version coming as an executable installer which is less than 5 Megs in size! Mozilla achieved this by using the amazingly strong compression format 7Zip.
There are also other loads of visual and backend fixes, all of which promises to make this version the best ever and make the user experience more enjoyable.

LikeBeen using Mozilla for over a year. Moved to FireFox about 6 months ago - also using Thunderbird and Sunbird. They all compliment each other and are obviously superior to any MS software. Also using Gaim, another open-source program ported from Linux. Open source is the future, and it is coming with amazing speeds.
