Google Earth to remove images of U.S. military bases

Google has been banned by the Pentagon to show images of their military bases on their Google Earth software and web based service.

The company is now restricted from developing detailed street-level video maps of U.S. military bases.

Michael Kucharek, spokesman for U.S. Northern Command said in a statement that they had to take this step after the company’s crew was allowed access to at least one base.

Google has been facing restrictions and complaints from several governments around the world related to their online mapping service which provide detailed images of locations.
