AOL makes available Open AIM 2.0
AOL has announced the availability of Open AIM 2.0 platform.
This platform has been developed to provide the developer community the freedom to access the AIM instant-messaging network with unprecedented ease.
AOL needed to open up their instant messaging platform as they face intense competition from rival services like MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.
The company said that the second generation of this service makes available access to AIM Money which is their advertising revenue-sharing platform.
AOL said that the platform would enable the developers to integrate AIM into Web sites and applications.
Meebo and eBuddy are two online services which are already working on using this platform on their product range.
