Microsoft Silverlight 2 beta is out
Microsoft has now made available the beta version of their Silverlight 2 application. The company has also just released the first beta of Internet Explorer 8 web browser.
These two applications have been released at the ongoing Mix08 conference in Las Vegas.
Microsoft said that the version 2 of their Silverlight technology includes support for managed code and developing with multiple languages. It now supports IronRuby, IronPython, JavaScript, and .Net.
The company has new partners for Silverlight including NBC Sports, Hard Rock International and Cirque du Soleil.
NBC Sports has said that they are going to use Microsoft Silverlight technology to Webcast 2,200 hours of coverage of Olympics.
Perkins Miller, senior vice president of NBC Sports and Olympics spoke about their plans: “You’re going to be able to go online and you’re going to be able to consume video how you want it, when you want it.”
