Mozilla Firefox for Mobile to come out this year

Mozilla has said that they are aiming to bring the mobile edition of their web browser product by the end of the current year.

The group is already in talks with mobile operators about this browser to be loaded on their mobile devices.

Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla’s vice president of engineering said in a statement: “Mozilla’s mission is to break open a closed market.”

For starters they are planning to release the mobile edition of Firefox for two platforms: Linux and Windows Mobile.

This edition of the Firefox browser would also be made available as a free download. Opera Mobile is not free (though they do provide a free Opera Mini web browser for the mobile platform) and Internet Explorer is bundled with Windows Mobile OS. Apple delivers a mobile version of their Safari on the iPhone.
