Microsoft Silverlight 2 beta coming up next
Microsoft’s Adobe Flash killer Silverlight is being developed at a rapid pace. The company is almost done with the beta of the second version of this browser add-on.
The company said in a statement that the second version focuses on emphasized RIA (rich Internet application) development capabilities.
Sources say that the company would use the Microsoft’s Mix08 conference in Las Vegas to showcase this new beta of Silverlight technology.
Microsoft however did say that they aim to ship the beta during the first quarter of this year.
Scott Guthrie, general manager in the Microsoft Developer Division spoke about Silverlight: “Once Silverlight 2 is installed; you can browse the Web and automatically run rich Silverlight applications within your browser of choice.”

I think this sounds a little better than it actually is:
>Once Silverlight 2 is installed; you can browse the Web
>and automatically run rich Silverlight applications
>within your browser of choice
Normally with Flash you have to install once per browser, whereas I read this as saying install once and work with multiple browsers.
I’m not aware of any plug-ins that install once and automatically work for IE/Firefox/Safari.

‘..within your browser of choice’ (as long as that browser isn’t Opera).
Yep, it’s per-browser, like Flash.
