Netscape Navigator: RIP
AOL has released the final updates to the Netscape Navigator web browser. This update comes weeks after the company revealed that they were extending the life of the product by another month.
AOL would no longer release any patches or updates for this web browser which really started the revolution on the internet.
The company is now recommending the users of the Netscape browser to move to either Firefox or Flock.
Tom Drapeau, the director of AOL’s Netscape brand said in a statement on this development: “Users will see the following major upgrade notice, released as Netscape 9.0.0.6. When the Netscape 9.0.0.6 upgrade is accepted and run, the following notice will appear, denoting the end of support date and the recommendations of Flock and Firefox.”
