Sony Ericsson to launch Windows Mobile powered mobile phones!

Microsoft and Sony might be rivals in the videogame console market but they are now collaborating in the mobile phone market.

Microsoft has signed on a deal with Sony Ericsson which would see the latter launching mobile devices powered with Windows Mobile OS.

Microsoft product manager John Starkweather spoke about this new development in the mobile market: “With Sony Ericsson we are now working with the top five handset makers around the world.”

Samsung, Motorola and LG are already manufacturing mobile devices powered by Microsoft software. Nokia also uses some Microsoft technology in their products.

Microsoft faces intense competition from Linux based mobile operating systems for the mobile devices. Google Android platform is under rapid development and it could soon become a potent challenger.
