Netscape Navigator support extended for one more month
AOL’s Tom Drapeau had recently surprised the market analysts by announcing that they were stopping all developments on the Netscape Navigator web browser (now based on Firefox engine) on February 1.
He has now extended the deadline by a month as the developers at the company are working on tools to help the users of this Netscape Navigator to migrate to Firefox and other compatible browsers.
He said in a blog post on this new development: “Mozilla, Flock and AOL are working together to provide tools to ease the migration of existing Netscape browser users to our recommended Flock and Firefox alternatives. AOL support for Netscape browsers has been extended one month, to March 1.”
Users of Netscape Navigator browser would soon get instructions on how to move on to another application with all the settings. They are supporting Flock which is a popular Firefox implementation aimed at users of social networks.
