Yahoo! releases beta of Yahoo! Messenger 7
Yahoo! Messenger is a popular instant messaging client and protocol provided by Yahoo! Yahoo! Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic “Yahoo! ID” which also allows access to other Yahoo! services, such as Yahoo! Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email. Yahoo instant messenger also includes a security feature, which allows the user to be “invisible” to whomever they choose.
In addition to instant messaging features similar to those offered by ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger, it also offers some unique features such as: IMVironments (customizing the look of Instant Message windows) and Custom Status Messages. Another recently added feature is customized Avatars
In a race to ahead in the game with the new and latest features, Yahoo! has just released their latest beta of the Yahoo! Messenger 7. Some of the new features in this beta version are free worldwide calls, Drag-and-drop photos, Drag-and-drop file transfer, Custom ring tones, Support for USB headsets and Indicators for new Yahoo! Mail, new voicemail, and updated Yahoo! 360° content.

im just wonderin if we can also change the skin using our older personalized skin, ive been trying to do this for few days now i just cant seem to figure how to install a personalized skin…any information on this is highly appreciated thanks..

I have enjoyed the beta version of Yahoo Messenger 7, but
it is buggy!! I cannot leave voice mails,though I can call.
Furthermore, when I get “booted” and log onto Messenger
again, I am unable to receive others messages half the
time. Wish they’d fix the bugs and put the final version
out there soon.:-)

I just downloaded the new version of messenger, and I can not get it to accept my jpeg display pic. it is also froze in “do not show display image” but I can use my avatar if I want.

i have tryed to download the new chat client but everytime it says the “COULD NOT LOAD DLL LIBRARY THE SPECIFIEDN MODULE COULD NOT BE FOUND ”
I DONT NO WHAT TO DO NOW NEVER HAD PROBLEMS B4 DOWNLOADIN THE OLDER VERSIONS :(

I have the new version of yahoo IM but it closes if I click on menus. I dont’ know whats wrong with it.

I installed YM 7.0 beta on my PC and it has started giving me problems. It starts re-booting automatically.
I have a PC with PIV (700 MB RAM) and Windows XP.
Anyone else face similar problems?

On yahoo msgr 7, i cannot get it to let me change the default on my display image, i have gone into preferences, both in msg windows and from yahoo msgr itself, and it will not let me change it. I can however display an avatar…im confused as to why it will let me one and not the other.

I have tried to download new version of yahoo im and keep getting a msg that says could not load dll library the specific module could not be located. do you know of a solution to this problem? is there a link for the older version of yahoo im? thanks for your help.

I keep getting the same problem Rhondda does, only it tells me it can’t load the DLL library when I’m trying to install the newer version. Somebody please help!

I hate the new messenger. My computer has done nothing but freeze up every 2 minutes & boot me since downloading. Whoever created this piece of crap should be slapped senseless.

I down loaded Yahoo Messenger Beta ver. 7 today (25 Sep) and when I try to log on, it says “Please make sure you are online and then try again”, well, yeah, I am on-line. I have a problem with using the confernce feature. I can use my mic perfectly for about 10 minutes and then it stops working. Happends everytime. Also we have to remember this is the beta version. This is why a beta version is released. To find out the bugs and to fix them in the final program.

Ive downloaded Messenger 7, all ok till I wanted to add my friend back on this new version, like i had on the former version. I requested her 4 times, but Yahoo wont let me add her! Now she can see me on, but I cant, behind her name it keeps saying add pending request, and no matter what I do, it wont add her properly. Im a bit at a loss, and she’s got the same version, but no problems with adding friends, its an little but annoying problem on which I cant find a solution. and voice sucks too. Oh and I hate Yahoo’s generated support!

Hi.. For anyone struggling with DLL could not load ….just uninstall yahoo from cdrive located in desktop under MY COMPUTER..then reinstall the old version . It works !!! I PROMISE!~

had a problem with messenger 7 in my ccousins pc, it hangs after i sign in & a window pops up telling me errors i cant understand. tried removing apps that have loaded up in booting but no luck still. it works in my pc though. buggy!

.DLL problem is you have to have yahoo 6 in order to do it. Yahoo 6 is perfect dont get 7.0. It is really bad. yahoo 6 is the one to have.
Yahoo should get rid of Bots not the user room!

Hello all,
Had a friend with the Dll error. I went into msconfig and disabled all of the startup items. I them booted into safe mode with networking (didn’t need networking because I saved the installation file to the desktop and I was able to upgrade his YIM to version 7.
To open msconfig go to START Button > RUN > type msconfig in the box and click on OK button > Window opens > click on Startup tab > click on Disable all button.
Get into safe mode 2 ways; Reboot computer and hit the F8 key every 2 seconds, will bring up screen with choices, use up or down arrow to choose safe mode or safe mode with networking. You can also use MSCONFIG, go into Boot.ini tab and choose SAFE MODE checkbox and then choose Network radio button.

When using MSCONFIG click on the OK button once you are done with your selections. You will be giving a choice to RESTART or EXIT WITHOUT RESTART. Do the RESTART. When the the computer reboots you will see a window telling you changes have been made to the System configuration utility. There will be a checkbox to not show this warning in the future, click on it to put a check in it.
Once you have the new YIM installed you will want to reenable your startup items. You will do that through MSCONFIG.
Also if you use the MSCONFIG method the computer will keep on rebooting in safe mode until you go back in there and remove the check from the safe mode checkbox.

I have this problem, too. And that’s the way to solve it: You must send something to let YM connect to its server, it’ll update your config then.
Actually I do: Change the pix (unsuccessfully, it stays the same); Talk to myself (Ctrl + M > Other Contact > myowncontactname). After some seconds, the pix will change as expected.

Where can I get a old version of Yahoo IM ?? I have a new computer and can’t use the new version of Yahoo IM.And now I can’t IM all my friends or family.How is Yahoo going to fix this problem ? If they have something that works why change it? My Motto is ” If It Isn’t Broke Don’t Fix It”!!!
