Microsoft to offer Windows OneCare next year

Microsoft and its quest for the secure computing experience. The latest step in this direction is the much in news Windows OneCare service to be launched sometime next year. The company has reportedly planned to test start the service amongst its employees soon. The aim is to enter the computer security market by offering services like Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware applications in a combined package available on subscription.

Clearly, they see the huge potential to be in this market. Companies like McAfee and Symantec are practically running this industry and are quite profitable. Corporations pay big to make their networks secure and safe from such security intrusions. And since Microsoft make the most popular Operating Systems out there, they know a lot about the targeted products.

In addition to providing the security services, it would also take care of basic tasks like de-fragmenting the system and taking backups of files on the hard disk. Most of these tasks are often either ignored or forgotten by the user. The service would also be very useful to the non-technical users of the computers who often have to rely on expert help to get their computer protected from external threats.

Microsoft is also expected to start the service as a free trial first to get the basic idea of how it fares in the real world situation. No set date is announced by the company for the launch of the service.
