Keyspan new firmware update for its “TuneView for iPod” now supports video out functionality with video-enabled iPods(R) including iPod classic and the iPod nano (3rd generation). TuneView(R) is a powerful remote control with color LCD screen and 2-way RF connectivity that allows you to browse and manage an iPod throughout your house or office. Unlike other iPod remotes, TuneView can be updated by connecting it to the USB port on a PC or Mac(R) and loading new firmware onto the remote.
Macworld Expo San Francisco – January 15 , 2008 – Keyspan announced today the release of a firmware update (version 1.34) that enables “TuneView for iPod” to support video out functionality with video-enabled iPods(R) including iPod classic and the iPod nano (3rd generation).
When Apple(R) released its current generation of iPods – including the iPod nano, iPod classic, and iPod touch – only docks and peripherals with an Apple authentication coprocessor were able to support video out functions in these new iPods. Keyspan’s TuneView dock is one of the few “Made for iPod” licensed docks that contains the necessary authentication coprocessor.
When used in conjunction with recently released firmware updates from Apple, the new firmware update from Keyspan enables full use of the video out functionality. The firmware is available for free download from the Keyspan web site.
“We’re pleased to be able to deliver full iPod audio and video management capabilities with TuneView,” said Mike Ridenhour, president at Keyspan.
“TuneView for iPod” has an MSRP of $179 and is available to consumers at Amazon.com, American TV, Buy.com, CircuitCity.com, Frys, J&R, MacConnection, OfficeDepot.com, and other leading iPod accessory resellers. It is available to resellers via Ingram Micro and D&H.
