Early bird discount pricing ends at Midnight EST, January 4, for AppleScript Pro Sessions. The February 4-8 Florida event is nearing sell-out capacity, with a large number of alumni in attendance. “We have 27 people coming from alumni companies, including six from one corporation,” said Ray Robertson, co-leader of the sessions. “So much money and time can be saved by using AppleScript. We are pleased that so many people continue to find our training event to be of great value.”

Collingswood, New Jersey - January 3, 2008 - Registrations for AppleScript Pro Sessions in St. Pete Beach, Florida, for February 4-8, 2008 are nearing sell-out capacity as the January 4 early bird discount deadline approaches. “We have 27 people coming from alumni companies, including six from one corporation,” said Ray Robertson, co-leader of the sessions. “This is a great testimony to the money and time which can be saved by using AppleScript, and we are pleased that so many continue to find our training event to be of great value.”

After 10 successful events, the sessions will be coming to Florida for the first time, with a conference hotel directly on the Gulf Coast in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. The sessions are led by Robertson and Shane Stanley, and will again feature at least two guest speakers. Matt Neuburg, author of ‘AppleScript: The Definitive Guide’, Second Edition, will cover Automator and AppleScript Studio, in addition to a preview of FaceSpan 5, the forthcoming rapid interface builder from Late Night Software. Also returning will be Joe Mathia of Avatar Digital Publishing Solutions, who will cover using AppleScript and XML with InDesign CS3 in a special “after-hours” session.

“While we can make no promises, we often end up with special speakers from Adobe and Apple at the event,” Stanley said. “Regardless, besides the CD packed with sample scripts, one of the greatest benefits of the sessions is getting to interact with other people automating a wide variety of tasks at many companies.”

In addition to covering automation of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, the 2008 sessions will also focus on any changes in the latest Mac OS X Leopard. “Shane has long focused on the importance of Unicode in working with AppleScript,” said Robertson. “Attendees will learn even more about that as we cover Leopard.” As always, the class will cover differences between the current OS and earlier versions. Also, the CD of sample scripts contains notes about differences in Adobe CS, CS2, and CS3 programs.

The sessions will cover scripting Microsoft Excel for the first time in years. “We realize many scripters in the prepress industry and elsewhere receive data in Excel format,” said Ray Robertson, session co-leader. “And we will continue our cover of scripting FileMaker Pro, which remains useful despite the lack of any AppleScript improvements since the release of version 7.”

Past AppleScript Pro sessions have drawn attendees from New Zealand, Europe, and Central America, as well as from many Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. The classes are suitable for both new and experienced scripters, with the emphasis on practical skills that can be used across a range of applications.

The five-day sessions will be held at Dolphin Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach. A special conference rate offers a limited number of hotel rooms starting at $99/night. The event is sponsored by McMunn Associates, based in Collingswood, New Jersey.

Early bird pricing starts at $1,500 for any three days, with a special discounted package of $1,800 for all five days.
