Yahoo! Mail touches 1 GB while we wait for Hotmail’s 250 Megs

We are TechWhack have been monitoring the webmail market quite seriously ever since Google’s GMail hit the street. After getting used to the convenience of the POP-IMAP/SMTP mailing facilities, we found little use for the free mailing services, however GMail changed all that. Now, everyone we know seems to have an active GMail id and everyone seems to love them in the webmail avatar.

One of the primary reasons for people to move onto GMail was the available web space. They started with 1 GB, which pretty much shocked everybody at that time. That led to the competition offering 2-6 Megs services to wakeup and think about what to do. Yahoo! announced an upgrade to 100 Megs and than to 250 Megs. Both these upgrades were quite fast for us. Recently they announced plans to upgrade all the Yahoo! mail accounts to 1GB and fortunately, they have managed to do so again quite smoothly.

The problem is with MSN Hotmail. They announced that the hotmail accounts would be upgraded to 250 Megs. This was more than just a couple of months ago. Some people definitely have reported that their accounts have been upgraded. However, no one at TechWhack has seen a hotmail box 250 Megs large around here. The company keeps on saying that the upgrade is progressive… but if Google can update all the GMail accounts out there all the time by few bits and bytes, how tough can it be for Microsoft to update their hotmail accounts to 250 Megs?

We have no clue…

Can we do away with the 30 day account unless requested!
Also a secure facility for encryption would be of great benefit, for personal ,sensitive stuff,ie. not for the world dissemination!
    Thanx Bill & team!

first change ur country to usa then close your account and then activate it again. you will have 25 mb initially and then after a month itn will be 250…do not forget to forward your email to any other account prior to close ur hotmail though if you activate it immediatley your email is still there

Or another trick is to just get a Gmail account. Who wouldnt … with 2203 MB (and counting). Plus unobtrusive ads. Plus, you still have 2x the storage of Yahoo. Plus the best spam filters. Plus POP. The list goes on forever.
