Verizon Communications sued by Software Freedom Law Center
The Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) has filed a copyright violation lawsuit against the US based telecom giant Verizon Communications.
They are claiming that the routers used by the company for its Fios broadband service violate the GNU GPL.
The lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of the developers of BusyBox.
They have already sued a couple of other companies for similar offenses but Verizon is the biggest target yet.
Dan Ravicher, legal director of SFLC spoke about this lawsuit: “We reached out to them three weeks ago. They never responded in any fashion.”
Verizon responded in a statement: “This matter is being dealt with. We’ve referred it to the responsible third-party vendor.”
