Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 beta to come early next year
Microsoft has stated that they would be releasing the next beta of Silverlight sometime early next year.
This beta would be named Silverlight 2.0 instead of Silverlight 1.1 as the company believes that this update would include massive changes and feature editions.
Scott Guthrie, general manager in the company’s developer division said in a blog post: “After stepping back and looking at all the new features in it … we’ve realized that calling it a point release doesn’t really reflect the true nature of it. Consequently we have decided to change the name and refer to it as ‘Silverlight V2.0′ going forward.”
He further said that this upcoming beta edition would have a go-live license. This would enable the developers to create and deploy web applications powered by it.
