Microsoft to have a black box sort of utility in Longhorn OS
In order to analyze what happens to Operating Systems in real world, software giant Microsoft has announced plans to implement a software technology in their upcoming Longhorn OS, which would report back data about crashes. The company would study these logs and would use them to fix bugs in their applications.
CNet reported that Bill Gates announced these plans of installing this ‘blackbox’ sort of functionality in the upcoming Longhorn. They would add this functionality in the Watson error-reporting tool, which would deliver the details about what user was doing on the system when the crash happened.
The company would receive much more information than what their current reporting tool does. However, the company has clarified that this option would be optional and users and corporates would have the control over what is released to them. Reporting would also be totally anonymous to prevent any privacy related issues.
