Windows XP SP3 claimed to enhance speed of the operating system
Windows XP Service Pack 3 is currently scheduled for release sometime early next year. The company is already beta testing it with thousands of users at the moment.
Reports are claiming that this service pack is enhancing the speed of the machines by around 10% faster compared to machines with just the Service Pack 2.
This is impressive considering the beta testers of Service Pack 1 of Vista have reported that no speed boost was noticed after its installation.
Craig Barth, Devil Mountain’s chief technology officer is one of the testers of XP SP3 who stated in a blog post: “We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Windows XP SP3 delivers a measurable performance boost to this aging desktop OS.”
He added: “Since SP3 was supposed to be mostly a bug-fix/patch consolidation release, the unexpected speed boost comes as a nice bonus. In fact, XP SP3 is shaping up to be a ‘must-have’ update for the majority of users who are still running Redmond’s not-so-latest and greatest desktop OS.”
