Sun Microsystems unveil xVM virtualization product line

Sun Microsystems has now unveiled their own range of virtualization products. This range has been named xVM.

They showcased this product line at the Oracle’s OpenWorld conference in San Francisco last week.

The product contains two components: xVM Server and xVM Ops Center.

They are planning to release this product range under the open source GPLv3 license. The company has already set up a community site at www.openxVM.org.

Sun Microsystems CEO Jonathan Schwartz spoke on this launch: “Our engagement with the community is not something we take lightly. It is in every way the foundation of our company.”
