Safaricom to use Google technology to provide email services
Kenya based mobile service provider Safaricom has announced that they are collaborating with search engine giant Google to provide free email service to subscribers.
Safaricom’s chief Michael Joseph said in a statement on this new development: “If you are already a data customer you have it.”
A Google representative added that Safaricom was in a position to provided broadband services across Kenya with the acquisition of a 3G license.
The company is partly owned by the global giant Vodafone and is working on plans to launch 3G service in Kenya.
