Microsoft embraces Virtualization and launches beta of Virtual Server 2005
World’s biggest software company Microsoft announced the launch of their beta of Virtual Server 2005 along with an assurance that they are committed to the virtualization technology. Their expectation is that the industry would become big in the coming days. This was announced by the company’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer.
He was addressing the developer’s community and media personals at the Microsoft Management Summit in Las Vegas. The Virtual Server allows the users to run multiple Operating Systems on a single hardware server. And this includes their prime competitor in the server market Linux. However, the company has for now not supported Linux officially for their virtual server solutions.
The company also plans to incorporate this technology in their Windows Server Solutions. They are expected to launch these integrated solutions in the Longhorn “wave” of products through Microsoft’s hypervisor technology.
The summit saw the launch of the Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 beta. In addition, the company also launched Management Pack for Virtual Server for MOM.
