MontaVista Linux Carrier Edition 5.0 released

Linux company MontaVista has announced the release of Linux Carrier Edition 5.0 carrier-grade embedded Linux kernel.

This edition of the Linux operating system is used in switches, routers, IP multimedia subsystems and several other systems.

A company representative said that they believe that this latest edition is more solid now that they have increased the automated test bed to support more than 100,000 Linux tests.

MontaVista added that they are shipping this edition with Field Safe Application Debugger application which would allow managers to log into the system live and apply trace points. This action would not require them to halt the system.
