Symantec enters Microsoft territory with Anti-Spyware application

Microsoft sometime back released their beta application capable of getting rid of Spyware elements from a computer. This was a result of their acquisition of the Giant Company, which specialized in this particular branch of computer security. They also have plans to release an anti-virus application and this is where they enter the domain of companies like Symantec.

Now, Symantec is hitting back. The computer security application company and the makers of the popular Norton Antivirus application just released their public beta release of an Anti-Spyware application. Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition is well supported by Symantec’s impressive antivirus scanning engine, automatic updates and real-time background scans to stop the Spyware at the point of entry on the vulnerable computers.

The company claims that their application works differently from the competition. The scan for the anti-Spyware instances can be scheduled as per the preference of the user or after every liveupdate with the latest definitions. The application also comes with QuickScan functionality, which runs in the background quietly eating few resources taking care of keeping the system free of Spyware traces.

The application also comes bundled with Norton’s Personal Firewall software to further enhance the capabilities of the Anti-Spyware application. Spam mail filtering is also included along with Parental Control for concerned parents to keep their kids away from objectionable material on the Internet.

A senior representative from the company, Matthew Moynahan said in statement: “Computer users are fed up with Spyware and adware clogging their PCs. They are equally unhappy with standalone products that only address one aspect of their security needs. Users want a single, easy-to-use solution that lets them use their machines without having to become computer security experts.”
