Google OpenSocial to challenge services like Facebook
Google now aims to challenge Facebook by allowing third party developers to code applications for their services.
Their new OpenSocial system would provide standardized tools to build applications which would work with several of their services.
This would prevent a situation where the developers have to code same application again and again for different Google services.
Joe Kraus, Google director of product management said in a statement: “This is about making the Web more social, how do you have your friends go along with you to any site on the Web?”
They are going to work with several partners on this project including LinkedIn and Friendster. Their own social project Orkut is also going to play a major role in this new system.
