Nokia to unveil touchscreen edition of S60 smartphone software

Nokia seems to have realized that they need a product to compete heads on with the Apple iPhone.

The company has now announced their plans to release a touch screen edition of their S60 smartphone software.

They aim to have it ready by next year and we are likely to see lots of Nokia phones making use of that technology.

Nokia’s S60 mobile software is used in several existing Nokia mobile phones. They also license the technology to other mobile phone makers including LG Electronics and Samsung.

The company added in a statement on this new development: “The touch user interface in S60 smartphone software offers licensees the opportunity to develop devices with a variety of input methods.”
