Mozilla Firefox coming to mobile devices

Open Source foundation Mozilla already has a project named Minimo to develop a browser application for the mobile devices.

They have now announced their plans to bring the Firefox web browser to mobile platform. Looks like they are noticing the growth in this industry with Opera having an advantage over them.

Mozilla announced that they are now hiring more people to work on this project and it would be on priority now.

Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla’s vice president of engineering wrote in a blog post: “We are serious about bringing the Firefox experience and technology to mobile devices. Bringing Firefox add-ons, the Mozilla platform, open source, and a large and passionate community to the closed and fragmented mobile platform will do the world some serious good.”

Schroepfer added that this project is now going to replace the Minimo project which they would now stop working on.
