Adobe acquires Buzzword, an online word processor tool

Microsoft might be facing a new rival in the word processing market as Adobe has just announced their acquisition of Virtual Ubiquity.

Google already is becoming a minor threat with their Google Docs and Spreadsheet application set.

Adobe would now own the online word processor Buzzword which is developed using their AIR technology.

The company is however mostly known for their image and video editing tools and applications.

Erik Larson, Adobe’s director of marketing and product management spoke on this latest acquisition: “We were looking for a technology to create a modern word processor. The problem of collaborating on documents is not solved and we think we can solve it.”

Adobe did not disclose the financial aspects of this deal to acquire Virtual Ubiquity.
