MontaVista Mobilinux 5.0 launched
MontaVista Software has now released the latest version of their Linux based operating system for mobile phones.
The latest version is MontaVista’s Mobilinux 5.0 and it features several new updates. The company said that the latest version features improved security, better power management tools and support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi dongles.
It has also been optimized to boot faster on mobile devices. The company added in its statement that this mobile OS currently powers 90 percent of existing Linux-based smartphones in the market.
This updated release also comes included with miniaturized version of SELinux which was developed by the U.S. National Security Agency.
The developers added that this updated release has also been optimized and it takes just around 14 MB of space on the mobile device.
It would be made available to companies starting this November and would initially support TI chips like OMAP 2430 chips and OMAP 3430. Support for other chips would be added next year.
