Shavlik Continues to Simplify Security with Free Google Gadget

Individual Users Can Download Free Google® Gadget for On Demand Patch Assessment and Remediation from Shavlik

Shavlik Technologies announced today the availability of their award winning patch management technology via a Google Gadget, immediately downloadable directly from the Shavlik Technologies web site at www.shavlik.com. The Shavlik Google Gadget provides an extremely easy to use tool for an individual computer user to quickly scan a system for missing patches, and then remediate, all directly from the user’s desktop. The Google Gadget is supported on Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP2 systems that are running Google Desktop.

Gadgets powered by Google are miniature objects made by Google users for easy access to functions or information, and can be added to a computer’s desktop if the system has Google Desktop installed. The Shavlik Google Gadget leverages the same security scanning engine that powers Shavlik’s enterprise level NetChk Protect, which is in use at over 10,000 organizations worldwide and has the world’s largest security database with support for over 22,000 vendor patches.

“It is our ongoing mission to simplify the complexities of security management, and so we have now made it easier for individual and home users to leverage Shavlik’s best-of-breed patch management technology,” said Mark Shavlik, CEO of Shavlik Technologies.” We have a large community of computer users familiar with our software and its comprehensive application support, and we wanted to provide a no cost option to these users and fill the hole that is being left by those security vendors that are discontinuing previously offered free security services.”
