IBM Lotus coming to a browser near you!

US based tech giant IBM has announced that they are planning to offer a web based version of their Lotus email and collaboration products.

The company said that they would offer the application as a suite that can be accessed from the web browser itself.

This would make the application platform independent as customers would be able to deploy the product without installing any software on their own computers.

The data would be accessed directly from the IBM’s servers over the internet just like user access their web mail accounts now.

As a result, users would be free to pick their choice of operating system as long they have access to a compatible web browser. Knowing IBM, users would get a lot of options including Mozilla Firefox.

This could help them pose a bigger challenge to Microsoft’s products in this segment of the market.
