Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 delayed until the end of the year

Microsoft and delayed software products. It will not really surprise anyone. The latest in the series of delayed launches is the famed Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, which was originally supposed to be launched during the summer of this year. However, the latest news in from the software giant means that the launch is now delayed until the second half of 2005.

A senior Microsoft representative Prashant Sridharan, a senior product manager for Visual Studio Team assured the developers in a statement according to which, Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2005 would ship along with SQL Server 2005 by the end of the year. MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) would continue to remain as its primary source of distribution. Microsoft in the same statement also announced the pricing details of this much-awaited upgrade of their primary development application suite.

The prices announced by the company are: Visual Studio 2005 Express would be available for USD 49, Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition will cost USD 299 (USD 199 for upgrading customers), and the Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition would come for USD 799 (USD 549 for upgrading customers). However, the customers of MSDN Universal would get the option to upgrade to Visual Studio 2005 Team System at no costs.

Microsoft also plans to offer lucrative subscription based modules for consumers who are interested in specific components of the suite for a variable period. This would let Microsoft make use of the market, which cannot really afford to go for the fully loaded versions. They would be releasing the second beta of Visual Studio 2005 early next month for the testers to continue sending them bug reports and suggestions.
