Microsoft: Vista ownership is cheaper than Windows XP
Software giant Microsoft has released details on a study which shows that Vista is cheaper on mobile PCs compared to their older operating system Windows XP.
The company claims through this study that total cost of ownership for Windows Vista on mobile PCs is $605 less compared to Windows XP.
This research was conducted by Wipro and GCR Custom Research. It found out that the total cost of ownership for Windows XP is $4,407 annually. The same figure for Vista came out to be around $3,802.
It included the costs of hardware, software, IT labor, and user costs.
Hiroshi Sakakibara, product manager for Windows Product Management at Microsoft added in a statement that mobile computers are essential for this study as they would become the dominating platform by 2010.
