Opera Kestrel First Public Alpha coming out on September 4
Opera Software has announced their the first public alpha release of the next major overhauled edition nicknamed Kestrel would be released on September 4.
The developers have now revealed some more information on what to expect in these upcoming releases.
Some of the key areas they have focused on are:
Improved performance
Site Compatibility
Accessibility
OS integration
Opera Mail
Some of the key features:
This edition would feature a new ECMAscript engine in addition to a new indexing and storage back-ends for Opera Mail.
Opera Mail would feature new indexing and storage back-ends. This would make it use less resources and would be faster than ever before.
Thousands of bugs have been fixed in the rendering engine which should result in better compatibility with websites.
Opera Kestrel would come with support for “overflow-x” and “overflow-y” CSS properties in addition to JavaScript Getters and Setters, and line-/block-breaking in rich text editors.
They are improving compatibility with Google powered services. Fixing problems noticed in the default WordPress template.
It would include experimental support for screenreaders such as Window-Eyes, Jaws, and VoiceOver on OS X.
Improvements have been made to make the browser feel more native in operating systems like Vista, OS X.
They would for the first time make available 64-bit builds. This would enable the users of 64-bit FreeBSD and Linux systems to run Opera at top speed.
Opera Mail would feature a new IMAP back-end.
