Estonia to open an online embassy on the Second Life
The Baltic state Estonia has announced their plans to establish an embassy on the Second Life virtual reality world.
With this they would join Sweden and Maldives to have an embassy online on the Second Life.
Marten Kokk, deputy chancellor at the ministry had this to say on their plans for this online embassy on the Second Life: “The virtual embassy will be located in the Second Life website, that has nearly 10 million registered users and already hosts a virtual site of Sweden.”
The site has millions of registered users and continues to attract a lot of visitors on a daily basis.
Kokk added: “The virtual embassy will not offer services like visa granting via the Internet, it’s technically too complicated. But we will include the links to the sites of the foreign ministry where all relevant info for visa applicants and other consular services will be located, as well as a vast list of info about political, economic and cultural life.”
The Estonian Virtual Embassy is currently scheduled to open on November 11.
