Microsoft Windows Server 2008 delayed
Software giant Microsoft has announced that their upcoming Windows Server 2008 has been delayed once more.
The company said that the development of the software could take as long as another three months and it is now likely to be launched in March or April next year.
It was currently scheduled for a launch in December this year.
Microsoft said that the new updated plans calls for the server to be released to manufacturing (RTM) between Jan. 1 and March 31.
Interestingly, this would mean that the company is now unlikely to be ready to launch it at the event planned in Los Angeles on Feb. 27. This event would see them launching the SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.
Helene Love Snell, a group product manager in the Windows Server team had this to say on the latest developments: “My conversation with the development team is that they are very aggressive about RTM prior to the launch event. We really want to do that. But we are not shipping until it is ready.”
