Apple updates its AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n

Apple has issued a firmware update for their AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n.

The firmware patch is available from the Apple’s website. Users can also update their machines using the Mac OS X’s internal software update system.

Apple had this to say on this new firmware release: “The AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n and Firmware 7.2.1 is Wi-Fi certified for 802.11n draft 2.0. This update also includes bug fixes and security updates.”

The company added that the firmware fixes a problem which could have enabled hackers to adversely affect network performance.

Apple further stated that the bug does not afflict the more recently released version of the 802.11n base station which are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet ports.
