Windows Genuine Advantage service facing downtime
This is bad news for the software giant Microsoft. The company has confirmed that their Windows Genuine Advantage authentication servers are facing downtime.
The result is that Vista users are unable to download patches from the site and if they try to, their installations are marked as unvalidated.
Phil Liu, WGA Project Manager has confirmed the problem and has stated that he would not sleep until the problem is fixed!
The problem also affects Windows XP users.
The company is advising users whose installations have been marked as unvalidated to try connecting with their servers at a later stage.
Experts are suggesting that XP and Vista users avoid performing any kind of activity on their machines which connects to the WGA servers.
And if their installations are indeed marked as unvalidated, they are recommended not to restart the machines as it could result in a crippled operating system especially in the case of Vista OS.
