Microsoft launches Windows Live SkyDrive

Software giant Microsoft has finally launched their Windows Live SkyDrive service. This launch comes along with the availability of expanded storage on their Live Hotmail webmail service.

Windows Live SkyDrive is essentially an online destination to allow web users to store their files.

These files can be accessed from anywhere and can also be shared if so desired. It provides three kind of storage spaces: personal, shared, and public.

The initial launch see them providing 500 MB of free storage to the customer. The company claims that this storage space is enough to store approximately 100 songs, 1,000 office docs, or 3,000 digital photos at 1200×1200 resolution.

The company aims to expand the services and the capabilities of this service in the coming months.

At this moment, the service has been made available to the users in US, UK and India only.
