Sun StarOffice now part of Google Pack!
Google has made a significant addition to their Google Pack suite. They have added the Sun Microsystems StarOffice office productivity suite to this service.
This comes two years after the two companies announced a pact related to software-distribution partnership.
Looks like they are now going to work together to offer this alternative to the Microsoft’s MS Office suite.
Google already has their own Docs and Spreadsheet application suite which works online through a web browser.
StarOffice is essentially the Sun’s version of the open source office productivity suite OpenOffice.
It usually costs around USD 70 but is now being offered for free through the Google Pack. Google Pack also comes loaded with Firefox web browser (rival to Microsoft Internet Explorer) and RealPlayer (rival to Microsoft Windows Media Player).
